Stavanger
Located on the southwestern coast, Stavanger city is the fourth largest city of Norway. Being the internationalized seaport and conference center, the city has attracted many petrol corporation and institutions open their branches here. The fast economic development has made the city one of the richest in the country. It is the third largest exporter of oil and is famous as the “Oil Capital of Norway” which provides the logistic support for the North Sea petrol exploitation.
One major attraction for students is Stavanger University, which has enrollment of over 8000 students from all over the world. Stavanger Symphony Orchestra is another unique attraction that is world famous. The Norwegian Canning Museum is located in Old Stavanger, commemorating the city's past glory as the herring capital of Norway. Among old stone churches in Norway, the cathedral in Stavanger is among the best preserved. The cathedral is recognized as one of Norway's most beautiful medieval structures.
