Lucerne
Situated on Lake Lucerne, the city of Lucerne is called gateway to central Switzerland.
With impressive mountainous panorama, scenic beauty and beautiful lake sides the city used to attract huge travelers from all over the world.
Rigi, Pilatus and Stanserhorn mountains attract many excursion lovers to the city. Lucerne’s landscape is amazing with gable paintings and medieval Chapel Bridge, which is considered one of the oldest, covered wooden bridges in Europe. Another attraction of the city is the Museggmauer, a wall that, with the exception only of one of its towers, has been preserved in its original, well-fortified state.

Moreover, with its 12-metre-long Bourbaki panorama, Lucerne possesses one of the world’s few maintained, mammoth circular paintings.

The city is known for innovative design and architectural landmarks like the Futuristic Cultural and Convention Centre (KKL) designed by a leading French architect Jean Nouvel. The centre is the landmark of «Lucerne: Festival City» and venue for a wide variety of cultural events throughout the year.
Excursion spots like the Standerton, the Bürgenstock or a steamship cruise on Lake Lucerne with its many bends and arms are certainly worth visiting. The journey through Wilhelm Tell Express that originates in Lucerne, ferries its passengers to the foot of the Gotthard pass via Lake Lucerne, and then continues by rail into Ticino, south of the Alpine ridge is exciting.
